The Perfect Lip colours for Autumn/Winter

Hey Everyone,
Today I thought I'd share with you my favorite lip colours for autumn winter! In the winter I like to wear brighter shades (plums, pinks and reds) to brighten up the dull days! As well as a few classic nudes to keep a fresh faced look!
Left Sleek Pout Paint in Minx, Right Loreal Caresse in Tempting Lilac 101
Top Burberry No.04 Rosewood, Bottom Loreal Caresse Fushia 202
Above Sleek Sheen Lipstick Cherry
I choose a few really wearable shades to show you, I hope you found this interesting! One tip I would suggest is if your going for a bright or bold lip colour like reds or pinks is to keep the rest of your makeup quite natural and fresh otherwise it can all be a bit too much!

What are your favorite autumn winter lip colours? do you wear any of these?

Ideal Homes Show in RDS

Hey Everyone,

On Saturday I went to the Ideal Home Show in the RDS, it was an interesting day... there were a few great bits and pieces but overall I was a little bit disappointed! I expected there to be a lot more stands and as well as interesting gadgets, but quiet a lot of the shows stands were boring and mundane however perfect for someone renovating their house! Not for someone who already has one!
Here's a few photos of the show and the parts I loved:
There was also a fashion show which I didn't really get... seeing as it was a "Home Show" not a fashion event! Be that as it may it was really good, and the lovely Karen Koster from Xposé on TV3 was presenting it! She was very good, came across as a lovely person, and is stunning in real life!

The one thing that we talked about for the whole evening after the event was Podology!! I had never seen anything like this before, and thought it was completely amazing I looovvved it! The women there were very nice and talked me through the concept. I would totally love one of these, if I ever have the money and the space i'm getting one! You can even have power installed so you could put in a music center, light, or whatever you wanted! I LOVE it! For more information on Podology they have a website...HERE!
I'm not slating the event in any way! Its just probably best for an older target audience, it just wasn't for me. There were a few aspects I liked but overall not really something I'd go to again. Especially if I had to shell out the €'s! I'm just being honest and giving my opinion, I have to say though that everyone I met there was very nice and you can't fault them on that!

Have you been to the Ideal Home Show? or would you? what did you think?

Breast Cancer Awareness Month- Alternative ways Of Donating

Hey Everyone,
I know I already did a post at the start of the month on Breast Cancer Awareness and ways of donating or contributing to the cause (which you can find HERE!) but I also wanted to share with you a quick idea of how to help without spending money. This way you can help the cause even if you can't afford to flash any cash!!
I recently had a bit of a wardrobe clean out (nothing major but a few bits and bobs I no longer wear) and I was thinking about giving them to a charity shop, but I passed this Breast Cancer clothing bank and thought it was a great idea!
If your going to do this the clothes obviously need to be of reasonable quality i.e. not falling apart, all buttons in tacked etc... but apart from that, its a no faults kind of donation!

If you've not yet donated in October for Breast Cancer Awareness month but want to help in some way this is a quick and easy method of doing so! For more information on the Clothing Banks visit Breast Cancer Ireland's website (HERE!)

Hope your all having a lovely weekend!!

Yes Nurse: Intensive Moisturizing Hand Treatment-Protect Your Lovely Hands

Hey Everyone,

With winter well and truly setting in my hands are feeling the side effects. So today I thought I'd do a post on a god send product!
Yes Nurse! protect your lovely hands is a moisturizing hand cream perfect for this time of year. Paediatric nurse, Antonia Steven was tired of the pains of cracked and dry hands as a result of her job, like many others which involves constant washing of the hands. She was fed up of using hand creams that just weren't doing the job so formulated her own.

This hand cream is (dare I say it) bloody amazing! Its not sticky or greasy like the usual creams I am forced to use by the state of my hands in autumn/winter. It also smells really nice not sweet or powdery like others I've tried, this smells musky and gentle.
The formulation is what makes this hand cream the best, it is not thick like you would expect but thin and smooth instead. It really soaks into the skin fast, making them extremely soft.

Yes Nurse is available in most pharmacy's all over Ireland and is €6.99 for 50mls bargain for the quality of the product!

Have you tried Yes Nurse? what are your favorite hand creams?

Fashionista Palette

Hey Everyone,

So my friend went to England last week and I asked them to pick me up a few bits that we can't get here in Ireland. One of the main makeup ranges I had been dying to try was Fashionista!
I love the concept of their custom palettes, you pick your own four products and palette to fill. At the moment you can fill your palette for just £10... Bargain!
There was four I had my eye on and was hopeful that there wasn't any out of stock, I was in luck!
I choose three blushers... Juicy Apricot, Glowing, and New York! As well as one eyeshaddow... Bella, which I plan to use as a powder highlight. They all come in their own little packaging and pop out for you then to click into your chosen palette.
New York Blush: A Glowy peachy pink, great as a everyday touch of colour!
Juicy Apricot Blush: Looks like a glittery barbie pink in pan but on, its more of a pretty peach
Glowing Blush: My favorite of the four, a plum pink great for Autumn and Winter
Bella Eyeshaddow: Amazing marbelled eyeshaddow however, I plan to use it as a highlight due to its gold shimmering undertones

The colour pay off is excellent, both the blushers and the eyeshaddow are very pigmented. There are three palette colours to choose from Black, Red, or transparent. I chose black for no particular reason, other than personal preference. Each powder contains 2.5g's of product which is great value for money especially for the quality of product! I'm so happy with this palette its handy for travel, and even if I just wanted to pop one of the powders into my makeup bag I can easily depot them back into their individual packaging!

What do you make of fashionista makeup?

Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Hey Everyone,
This is a cause very close to my heart as my mother, an aunt, and both my grannies have died of Breast Cancer. So if there's anything I can do to promote this cause I will be doing it! There are so many ways to support this cause from sponsored walks/runs, donations and even shopping.

Centra are stocking Breast Cancer awareness umbrellas which are €5 and will be available in Centra’s 460 stores nationwide in October. All the money raised will go to Action Breast Cancer !

OPI on ASOS are selling a Nail Varnish for €14.82 of which €2 goes to Breast Cancer Campaign

Clinique are selling a limited edition Chubby stick for £16.00 £2 of which will be donated to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

REd Herring at Debenhams made a think pink t-shirt to support breast cancer research and care €18.50

This is such an important cause and if you can donate or promote the charity in anyway please do so. But breast cancer awareness month isn't just about donating its also to promote awareness of cancer, as much as its a taboo to talk about please be aware of your body and check yourself I should know its very important! How To Contour: with Bronzer, Highlighter, and Blush

Hey Everyone,
Today I thought I’d do a post on contouring. It is something that a lot of people still get wrong but with a few simple rules its really easy to do!

To contour: This is your Bronzer stage whether you like shimmer or matte contouring adds definition to the face, and makes your cheek bones stand out (or creates the illusion of cheek bones) if your looking for extra definition. Its easy to over do this part so less is more if your unsure. And for newbies matte bronzers are a lot less harsh.
How to apply: Apply bronzer to just under the apples of your cheek up to the hairline and blend out to avoid harsh lines, I also like to apply a sweep of bronzer over my temples and down my neck.
Favorites: Bourjois chocolate bronzer, Hoola benefit, Catrice rose beige.

To Highlight: Highlighting is my favourite part of doing my makeup it gives a rely pretty glow to your face. Highlighters can be powder or liquid and there are lots of good ones on the market. If your new to highlighting I would suggest a liquid highlighter as they are a lot easier to blend! Highlighters come in lots of different tones pearls, pink shimmers, and golds! Its personal preference, choose it to fit in with your skin tone.
How to apply: Highlighter should be applied to the brow bone, and top of the cheek bones to make them stand out! It can also be applied to the inner corner of your eye along your nose and cupids bow for extra glow!
Favourites: highbeam and sunbeam Benefit, beat the blues mememe, Fashionista bella, sleek glo peach shimmer.

Blush: Blush is normally in most peoples daily makeup routine and its definitely personal preference on what sort of look your going for, whether its brights or nudes. For a long time I left out the blusher stage when wearing bronzer and highlight as I didn't realize what a difference it makes, but that sweep of colour makes all the difference. As long as you don’t over do it, any blush can work with ur bronzer and highlighter.
To apply: A sweep over the apples of your cheeks blended out. Don’t carry it up to far towards the hairline as u already have bronzer and highlight on, don't over do it you don't want to look like a scary rag doll.
Favorites: benefit dandelion, natural collection pink cloud, fashionista New York

Other points to bear in mind: If your self conscious about pores steer clear from to much shimmer as it highlights them, stick to what suits you and not what looks good on others, (whats your skin tone warm/cool), less is more, practise makes perfect!
Good luck and I hope this has helped!

Book Review: 50 Shades of Grey (E L James) trilogy?

I think we've all pretty much heard about these books by now if not, have you been living under a rock or something? People just seem to be focusing on the obvious! and yes it is fairly racy (understatement of the century) But there's not really much been said about the actual story and the book as a whole!

Firstly addressing the elephant in the room before I get onto what I think of the story... Alot of the media seem to suggest at every opportunity that there is a slight reference to domestic violence situations in the book... But is there?
I think its very easy for a lot of people to just point the finger and say this book is glorifying domestic violence, but really if you read the book that's not what goes on at all! Its not about a man beating up his girlfriend its about what makes a person tick! Each to their own in my opinion ( any type of violence is definitely NOT what I look for in a relationship!) I find that part of the story a little far fetched and think any woman who was given the choice at that stage would have run a million miles away!

Onto the story... I'm a total book worm love getting lost in a good story. As long as its well written I could read anything, as a romantic myself I have to say a good romance story is always a winner. I will admit I picked up the first book to see what all the fuss was about, it had so much coverage in the media and nearly every woman around was either reading it or talking about reading it. So I ran off and brought myself a copy, and it took awhile its popularity cannot be criticized! It was sold out for a long time!

First thoughts, I'm going to be honest I found this book (all three actually!) badly written and repetitive. Its as if the author was just trying to fill in more space at times, taking sections from earlier chapters and changing the words around to create a new paragraph. Having said that if it had been written better I think it would of been a great story. The plot had everything you need from a good read... romance, suspense  drama, a twist, and that little darker side. But like I said the writing lets it down.

At the beginning of the first book the quality of writing and dramatically controversial story line gave me no rapport with the book, but I felt the need to finish it to decide for myself about the hype! By the end I was hooked! But not by the sexual element that was the highlighted topic in every magazine, newspaper, and  on every radio station, no by the shock twist of the plot. As soon as I was finished I went on the hunt for the second book. This again badly written but was my favorite of all the books, I fell in love with the story line, the characters, and wanted them to find happiness. Alas the third book dissolved all emotion I had for the second! Bad ending, beginning, and middle, meant I could finally put to rest this trilogy without ever intending to revisit or re-read!

Would I see the film? Maybe! All depends on who's chosen to play Christian Grey! ;)
My overall view...You can't fault a girl for trying the controversial story line has made sure this is a bestseller, never mind the quality of writing! and the gossiping old grannies hanging around the Fiction section whispering about the "Dirty books" will always make me giggle!

Whats your views on this book? Should their be a film? and who would you like to see play the main characters in the film adaptation?

New Blog Design... Thank you youralmostalice!

Hey Everyone,

Today's post is more of a Thank you to the lovely Natalie from

I was catching up on some blog posts last week when I stumbled across a blog post from her... saying that she was wondering if anyone would like something designed for their blog as she is currently studying graphic design at uni and wanted to boost her portfolio!

I of course jumped at the chance one to get a new makeover and two, well I gotta support my fellow graphic designs don't I! lol!

So I gave Natalie an email and she was so lovely, I didn't give her much to go on, but she gave me so many options and listened to my suggestions! She then designed me my new header and also a button, which i've never had before so look forward to sharing with you all! (its in the right side bar ---->)
I'm so delighted with the new header and have had fun changing the colours of my blog extra to fit in with it!
Thank you so much Natalie!! xx
