January Favourites: Fashion

Hey Everyone,
this is my second post of January favourites this being what I've loved fashion wise this month! January to me is always quite a relaxed month after the busy holiday season and I like to reflect that in my fashion... choosing to wear baggy jumpers, and simple tops, with my favourite pair of jeans, using jewelry and scarfs to jazz up the outfit!

So hears my Fashion Favourites for the month of January:
1. A Statement Necklace:
I love a statement necklace for being able to completely change a look, this month I have been wearing lots of warm layers and knitted jumpers to keep me warm in this terrible weather we've been having. By adding a larger necklace you can go from slouchy to casual chic! The type of necklaces I like are chunky and bold but if your looking for something slightly more subtle this one from Topshop is a great alternative (The Necklace!)

2. Knitted Jumpers:
As I said above I have been living in jumpers this month and this ivory jumper is just one of my favourites. For me its all about over sized jumpers to get the cozy cute look! I especially love this particular jumper from Dorothy Perkins because of its different textures!

3. Graphic T's and Sweatshirts:
For lazy weekends and walking I have been in nothing but graphic T's and sweatshirts, I think they are perfect casual fashion! The one I've gotten the most use out of this month is this H&M 80's style sweatshirt which I picked up in their after Christmas sales, it is really comfortable, and perfect for throwing on top of gym gear! (The Sweatshirt)

4. Boots:
I think this season has been all about boots, and it doesn't matter what style you choose! I think everyone should have at least one pair of good boots in their wardrobe, they are easy to wear and can really make a look. Plus you can throw on a warm pair of fluffy socks on first and know-one need know! (The Boots)

January Favourites: Beauty

Hey Everyone,
I've decided that at the end of each month I will now do favourites posts! One post for each group of favourites from that month, the groups being... Beauty, Fashion, and Non Beauty!
I feel this would be a nice addition to the blog and give you all an insight to what i'm loving at the time!

So, on with the first of the January favourites...Beauty:

1. Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation:
I know a lot of people favor the Healthy Mix Serum over the Foundation, but I just love it! Its creamy, sinks into the skin, whilst looking natural and not cakey! I would say its medium/buildable coverage, it can become a little shiny throughout the day but a quick powder application solves that! I use the shade 51 Light Vanilla, this will be a definite firm favourite for the next few months!

2. Rimmel Scandaleyes Eyeliner in Nude:
I reviewed this recently (HERE!) and I just can't get enough of it! Almost like a gel eyeliner its very creamy, and has extraordinary staying power for a drugstore brand! The shade Nude is especially good for the waterline, it helps to open up the eye making them look bigger and more awake!

3. REN Active 7 Radient Eye Gel:
I made a REN order just after Christmas and received four samples with it, this was one of the samples and it has lasted me since then only running out this week... much to my disappointment. As it says in the name this is a gel so slightly different to other eye products I've used before, which tend to be creams! It is a clear gel and sinks into the skin really quickly. I use the eye gel at night and my eyes feel hydrated and smoothed in the morning.
However now its finished I'm on the look out for a new eye cream, I would love any recommendations you might have!

4. MAC Creme-Cup Lipstick:
Creme-Cup was a gift at Christmas and my new favourite nude Lipstick! So wearable for anyone and a great natural looking lip. I also reviewed this recently (HERE!) I can't see myself getting bored of this anytime soon! I highly recommend MAC lipsticks even though the price is on the high side, in my opinion they are worth every cent!

5. La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo:
A lot of Beauty Bloggers and Gurus have been raving about this product for a long time, and I jumped on the bandwagon mid December. I have to say I agree with all the hype! Effaclar Duo is a fantastic product as it works as a "Corrective and Unclogging Anti-Imperfection care" treatment whilst being paraben-free! I apply this product morning and evening in the areas of my face and neck where I'm prone to spots or breakouts, and I have to say it really works. I've noticed less frequent breakouts, and any imperfections that do occur clear up a lot faster than usual! So, I will be using this for as long as it keeps working!

Benefit Cabana Glama Set

Hey Everyone,
Today's post is a review of the Benefit Cabana Glama Makeup set I got for Christmas this year! I love Benefit I think they are a great brand, their packaging is always super cool, and their products are amazing!
 This set contains 4 Miniatures:
Hoola bronzer (I have already reviewed HERE!)
Some Kind- A Gorgeous in Medium
and Eyeshaddow palette in Peach Fizz, Bronze Buzz, Cocoa Pizzazz
This is the perfect gift for any woman (or a treat to yourself) as it is everything you could want to complete a whole look, in a cute box.
First off the packaging as usual with Benefit is above and beyond funky! Its a bright card box, designed to look like an air mail package from a tropical destination! Great if like us in Ireland your in need of a bit of cheering up from the constant rain outside!
Inside there is a large mirror on the flap lid and then compartments inside which hold the products, a small sponge applicator, and a brush for the bronzer (a miniature version of the brushes that come with their famous box blushes!)
I would say... I think I will get more use out of this set in the summer as it holds the kind of delicate natural shimmer shades I like to use at that time of year. Also the 'Some Kinda-A Gorgeous' product is in medium which is a little too dark for me, and so would suit be better in the summer when I'm less pale!
Nevertheless this is still a fantastic set! The eye shadow's are slightly sheer but amazing colours, I would definitely suggest using a base/primer before applying them to get the best impact from them! As for Possietint I had wanted to try this product for a very long time, for me its not something I'd use on my cheeks anytime apart from spring, summer as it is pink flush type of colour. However an amazing pink tint  for the lips any time of year, it sets pretty quickly though so I would apply quickly to stop streaky marks!

All in all a great set that I will be getting serious use out of in the coming spring/summer months! Benefit never disappoints and this is another example of how great their sets are as you get to try out their products before purchasing full size!

Have you tried any Benefit sets?

Sephora Wishlist:

Hey Everyone,
Sorry I've not posted much the last week (I've just had one of those weeks), however I have been working on a series that will be up very soon!
Today's post is a Sephora wishlist... A friend of mine is off to Vegas in a while and said they wouldn't mind picking me up a few things! I trawled through the website and came up with this list:

Jasmine Korres Lip Butter

Almost Nude 09 Colour palette
Mattifying Blotting Papers
Traffic Stopper Copper Jewelry Top Coat Nail Polish
Rose Quartz eyelash curlers

As we don't have Sephora here in Ireland, I would love any recommendations you might have to add to my list?

Rimmel Scandaleyes Waterproof Eyeliner: Nude 005

Hey Everyone,
Rimmel Scandaleyes Eyeliner's have been everywhere recently with the majority raving about this new product, so I thought I'd jump on the bandwagon and give them a go!
Its taken me this long to get my hands on one as they have literally been sold out everywhere, I eventually found this one on a trip to Wexford. I had wanted the eyeliner in both Nude and Taupe but so far I have never seen Taupe in stock, much to my upset as I'm desperate to try it!
As for the Nude... I had wanted to try this as soon as I saw it mainly because (as a lot of you already know) I'm not the biggest fan of black eyeliner, and normally stick to brown. I thought this would be a nice change.
So here's what I thought of the Rimmel Scandaleyes Waterproof Eyeliner in Nude 005:

Theres not much you can say about the packaging, but then most eyeliners have similar packaging. The clear lid lets you see the product inside, and the pencil itself is the colour of the product which makes it easier to find in your makeup bag!
The formular is what I love so much about this eyeliner, it has a gel consistency similar to Avon's Supershock eyeliners which I also love! Once applied you have a couple of seconds smudging time (handy if your creating a smokey eye) and then it sets, and when I say it sets it literally isn't budging for anyone. Which is obviously great as most waterproof eyeliners have no give! Even on my waterline where most eyeliners have disappear after about 10 minutes this stays on!

This Nude is a very yellowy nude almost tan like! but once on the water line looks a lot more natural!

The pigmentation of this eyeliner is just amazing, the quality of colour payoff is right up there with the higher end brands!

I have looked at nude eyeliners in the past from higher end brands and always thought the price was way to ridiculous to spend, But this is not only a great eyeliner it is also very affordable!

My Verdict:
If your in the market for a new eyeliner and can find these in the shops I would definitely recommend it, their quality far surpasses the expectations of a drugstore product! and if its not in stock at the moment its definitely worth the wait!

Guest Post: Battling A Shopping Addiction

Hey Everyone,

I recently decided to ask if anyone would like to guest post on my blog and the lovely Christine from Little Red Bow agreed, and I was over the moon!

So here's Christine's post... and let me know if I should make guest posts regular (as a once a month post)?!?!
I'd like to thank Hannah for giving me the opportunity to write this guest post!
My name is Christine and I'm a 26 year old beauty blogger from Toronto, Canada.  Like most other young women I'm obsessed with clothes, shoes, and makeup.  Another thing I have in common with other people my age is that I'm under employed.  I'm lucky enough to have a decent paying part time job and parents who buy me groceries but I’m constantly worrying about money and my future.
Whenever I hear about other people buying houses and cars I feel insanely jealous because I can’t afford these things, and to be honest it’s partly all my fault. I’ve been working for 10 years and up until last year I hadn’t even saved a cent. Ever since my first job at McDonald’s when I was 16, I’ve been going on spending sprees every pay day.
As 2013 is a new year, I am starting to get a handle on my shopping addiction and so far I’ve saved a considerable amount.  My plan is to not purchase any clothes or makeup for 100 days, from December 29, 2012-April 8 2013. After that I’ll allow myself a treat once and awhile but I need to stop going overboard.
This is how I’ve been able to last so far:
1.      My real wish list:  This is a list of big things I really want and couldn’t afford due to my spending habits.  I want to take a trip somewhere to visit loved ones I miss (Florida or Scotland), get a new apartment, and invest in a nice camera.  I can’t afford to do all of this in 2013 but I can save towards these things.
Florida: Image Source Scotland: Image Source  Apartment: Image Source Camera: Image Source
2.      Sell things: I made $140 selling clothes and shoes I didn’t wear anymore.
3.      Be aware of what you own: Re-organize your clothes and other processions and you may discover old favourites you forgot you had.
Everytime I'm tempted to buy something I look at these pictures of my wardrobe.
4.      Walking: Walking instead of driving/taking public transit is not only a great way to save money but it’s free exercise.  When I go for a long walk I feel more relaxed which helps me because one of the biggest triggers for my shopping addiction is stress.
5.      Live off cash: I try to take out money from the bank and live off that instead of my debit and credit cards.  That way not only do I save on banking fees I’m less tempted to shop when I can see my money going in and out of my wallet.
What are the big things you want in life?  How do you budget in order to save for your future? I’d love to hear from Hannah’s lovely readers!
I just want to say thanks again to Christine, She was amazing and her post is great! and please go check out her blog if you haven't already!
Hannah x

My First MAC Lipstick: Creme Cup

Hey Everyone,
Over Christmas I received my first ever MAC lipstick I had wanted this particular one for a very long time!!
Creme Cup from Mac is the perfect pinky nude shade for me... its a cremesheen formula therefore its creamy but still quite thick, which means a lot of colour pay off! Its such a delicate colour but really makes the green in my eyes pop!
I'm super pale which means it can be hard to get on with nude lipstick as they can make you look a bit washed out but the pink tones in this make it perfect and add a lovely blush to the lips!
I also love the packaging... I mean who wouldn't its black, smooth, and kinda bullet shaped, I think its sleek and stylish! I just love love love this lipstick, It makes me so happy (I know sad right!!) I literally cannot rave about this product enough!!
The only down side is the price, I would definitely re purchase this on a trip to England where its sold at a considerably cheaper price!
Have you tried this Lipstick? Whats your favorite MAC Lipstick?

Bourjois Chocolate Bronzer v's Benefit Hoola

Hey Everyone,
For a long long time I've been raving about how much I love Bourjois Chocolate Bronzer! As I have pale skin I think its the perfect delicate, subtle colour, for contouring. However a firm favourite with beauty's everywhere is Benefits Hoola Bronzer, so I thought I'd do a bit of a comparison for you!

Both the Benefit and the Bourjois bronzer come in a hard card packaging. The Bourjois in a book style, flip to open packaging, Without a Mirror! This doesn't bother me too much as I rarely use the mirrors in products anyway, and if the product is good I don't really care too much about the packaging (as long as its doing its job to contain the product)!
The Benefit bronzer comes in a box (like all their cheek products) Its a slightly more luxurious than the bourjois, and it also comes with a mirror and a brush. The brush is OK, but I never use them anyway!

In the pan Hoola looks slightly darker, however when swatched the bronzer's are very nearly identical! Benefit's Hoola being very slightly more yellowy toned!

Both are matte bronzer's, which means they are both really wearable on anyone! Both also have equally good pigmentation/colour pay off. For the price of the product Bourjois definitely matches Benefit on the pigmentation of its bronzer!

Some people say they can't smell anything off the Bourjois Chocolate Bronzer but I definitely get a strong chocolaty smell off it which is amazing! An added bonus is that it smells so nice when applying it but the smell doesn't linger, or make your face smell of chocolate! The Benefit product doesn't smell of anything!

Benefit Hoola - around €34
Bourjois Chocolate Bronzer - around €9

My Verdict:
They both have great pigmentation, both similar shades, both Matte, and most importantly for me... both are subtle enough for pale skin like mine!
Although I think Hoola is an amazing product (and I do love Benefit!) for me the price difference is just too much and I would definitely repurchase the Bourjois product over Benefit because of this!

Have you tried either product? Which one is your favourite?

Hey Everyone,
Today's post is a very personal one!
This post is in no way looking for sympathy or anything like that please do not take it like, I opted into included life posts into my blog when I started it and this is another one of them but a special one and I never let this day pass without commemorating it! I share a lot of my life with you all and consider you my friends so I hope that you take this post in the way it was meant as a tribute and celebration of a life and not something negative!

Today 16 years ago on the 13th January 1997 my mum lost her battle with cancer I'm writing this post because if by some miracle somehow shes watching over me right now she'll know she's still loved and missed! Even after 16 years this is still quite hard for me to talk/write about so I'm going to keep this short...
The candle that burns twice as bright only burns half as long...
Miss you mum RIP! x
Forever loved always missed

Your Views on Hauls and A Haul

Hey Everyone,
I've held off on doing hauls for a long time because of the blogger taboo attached to them. Like most things some people don't like them some do! The reason I've avoid them so much though is because of a few people who see hauls as bragging, and I in know way would want people to feel like i'm doing that... So I avoided them for a while, until recently when haul posts kept cropping up here and there with many people saying that they did actually like them and that they liked seeing what was around! So I took it to the masses and decided to tweet out and find out what you guys really  thought...
So after all that I've decided that I'm gonna go for it so here's a small haul with some money I got from Christmas and a few bits I picked up in the sales:

From REN:
-Jojoba Microbead Purifying Facial Polish

-F10 Smooth and Renew Mask
(Samples of Cleansing Milk,
Radiant Eye Gel, Glyco Lactic Skin Renewal Peel Mask, Micro Polish Cleanser)
From H&M:
-H&M bracelets
-Sweater from H&M sale
-€3 sweater in H&M sale
(Look out for this one I'm gonna be doing a DIY on this soon!)

-MUA Nail Art
- Rimmel Nude Eyeliner

From Penney's:
-Work out top €3 in Sale

I love to know what your opinions are...So do you think I was right or wrong?
Do you like haul posts?

New Blog Feature: Top Tips

Hey Everyone,
Just letting you know I made a new list feature on the blog with my Top Tip Posts...
How To Wash Your Brushes,
How To Contour Using Bronzer, Higlight, and Blush

This is just to make life easier for anyone who is looking for "Tip's" or "How To Do" posts as they now stand out amongst the reviews, love, and life posts...Therefore you don't have to go trawling through all the Archive or Labels to find them!
All you have to do is look out for the header "Top Tips" on the right hand side of the page, and then click on the links to whatever your looking for! This new feature is purely for my "Top Tip" posts so all other posts can be found in the usual places like the Archive in the left sidebar, or Labels in the right!
I'm gonna be doing skincare posts soon on looking after your skin, routines, and tips, so I thought I'd make this now so the posts are easier to find in the long run... I realize I've made this very long winded but I hope you like it and it makes sense to somebody! :)

Shane 25th Birthday and A Trip to wexford!

Hey Everyone,
Last weekend was Shane's 25th Birthday and as a surprise I planned our own mystery tour! He had never been to Wexford and it was only an hour and a half from Dublin so seemed like a great place to go... Here's our pictures of the day:
Our Stop's along the way were:
Stop 1: Enniscorthy Castle
Stop 2: The Antique Tavern Pub
Stop 3: Morriscastle Beach
Stop 4: Wexford Town
Stop 5: Another Pub in the Town
Stop 6: Chocolate Box for dinner
...and then a walk along the pier/harbor before I drove home again!
Luckily I don't drink so I was able to do all the driving while Shane enjoyed himself, It was a great day and I would love to go back in the summer when its a bit warmer!

Have you ever been to Wexford?

Trends I loved in 2012

Hey Everyone,
yesterday I did a post on trends that I think should stay in 2012 If you didn't see that you can HERE! So today I thought I would flip the topic and talk about...
The trends I loved last year, so here they are:

1. Ombre
Was still a huge trend in 2012... This time around not just for your hair but also for clothes, and nails as well! This is not something I'm bored of yet, and still would like to ombre my hair nearer the summer time!
2. Studs
Studs whether conical or square where bang on trend last year with some form being on many clothes, shoes, and bags in almost any store... This year look out for them more in nail art form!
3. A Bold Lip
Bright Lip stains, balms, and Lipsticks were huge in 2012 and I just loved this trend! Having never had the nerve before I started trying out pinks, before moving on to reds and plums!

4. Graphic Print T-shirt's and Sweatshirts
Text printed on t-shirt and bold graphic designs were huge for the casual chic trend last year, here's one of my personal favourite's!

5. Ciate Nails
This accent nail trend really took off in 2012 with Ciate becoming a popular brand, there advent calender for Christmas became a must have item with many beauty bloggers!

6. Flat boots
For shoe wear flat boots seemed to out weigh heels last year, whether a short Chelsea boot or a high equestrian style

7. Dewy Glow and Highlight
2012 was all about leaving behind matte foundations and choosing a more natural dewy finish to the skin, Highlight also was key with products such as Mac's mineral soft and gentle, Benefit's Highbeam, and Topshop's cream glow, becoming popular choices with beauty bloggers everywhere!

What trends did you love in 2012?
