Guest Post: Top 5 Skincare Products

Hey Everyone,
Its that time of the month again where a lovely blogger guest posts and today's is from Angelica over at One Little Vice she does amazing posts and beauty reviews so please check her out there!

Hello there! I'm Angelica and I write over at One Little Vice and today I'm going to share my top 5 skincare products with you. I currently use each and every one of these products and they're all things that I just couldn't go without so I hope you enjoy reading about them as much as I enjoy using them!
1) The Body Shop’s Tea Tree Pore Minimiser
Since I started using this in January hardly a day has gone by without me using it. I use this as my go-to primer, applying a small amount all over my face before I apply my make-up. As I have oily skin, I really struggle with keeping my skin looking matte throughout the day and this makes a massive difference. My skin feels and looks less oily and my make-up  lasts a lot longer, and at only £7.50  with a tube lasting literally months and months this is one of those must-have products that won’t break the bank.

2) Super Facialist Tea Flower Deep Cleaning Pore Purifying Clay Mask
Whenever I’m having a not-so-perfect skin day this is the face mask I pick up. It’s a really effective clay mask which contains salicylic acid, a fantastic pore de-clogger. It also contains  other balancing ingredients such a shea butter to stop it being too strong and drying. That being said, I do tend to just use this on my t-zone as my cheeks are a little too sensitive to use this all over, or I just apply it on targeted areas that need a little bit of extra help. When I use this face mask I notice the effects of this face mask immediately, it’s a great product if you need to look better pronto as the next day your skin will be visibly clearer and blemishes a lot less red.

3) Weleda Almond Soothing Cleansing Lotion
I've tried many a cleanser in my time and none have ever been so gentle yet effective as this one. Sensitive skinned girls, this is one for you. Also, doughnut lovers, I swear to you that when I use this cleanser this is all I smell. I know it’s meant to be almond scented but to me it smells of sweet, freshly baked dough. I've repurchased this many times and can’t see myself ever getting bored of it, the nourishment it delivers as it cleanses is just superb. I’d highly recommend this and Weleda is such a lovely brand that if you don’t like the sound of this cleanser then they’re bound to have another product that’ll leave you weak at the knees (I’m also a big fan of their pomegranate body oil).
4) L’Occitane Almond Shower Oil
Two words: holy grail. I can’t rave about this shower oil enough! I have super dry skin on my body that needs moisture daily. I can’t tell you how annoying it is to have to moisturise as often as I do, so any products that help keep my skin hydrated get a big thumbs up from me. This shower oil is the ultimate shower product for anyone with dry skin. When I use this (which is pretty much daily) I find I can get away with moisturising far less often and my skin is just left super soft and nourished with a subtle floral, almond scent lingering behind. It’s luxurious but I have a 500ml bottle that’s lasted 5 months so buying this is more like an investment than a splurge.

5) Biotherme Pure.Fect Skin Targeted SolutionThis is my newest addition to my skincare favorites and for good reason. I think this is probably the best blemish treatment that I've ever used! On many an occasion I've applied this on large, red, horribly noticeable blemishes and woken up to find them more than halved in size and much less visible with no redness in sight (making them so much easier to cover up with concealer). This is a pricey product, £15.50, but the 15ml you get will last you ages. If you regularly have breakouts that you'd like to get rid of quickly then this is something I'd highly recommend.
So there you have it, those were my top 5 skincare favorites  Writing this post really reminded me how much I rely on each and every one of these to keep feeling and looking my best. I hope you enjoyed this post and I have to say a big thank you to Hannah for letting me write a guest post for her- Thanks Hannah :)

So there you have Angelica's Top 5 skincare products some of which I'm definitely going to have to try now! Thanks so much to Angelica for doing this amazing post and being so lovely!

Cocoa Brown by Marissa Carter 1 Hour Tan: Perfect For Pale Irish Skins

Hey Everyone,
I think its well known by now that I am not the biggest fan of fake tan... mainly because I think a lot of girls over do it however I may have just been converted!
Ok I've definitely been converted, and its because of Cocoa Brown 1 Hour Tan by Marissa Carter. I realise I'm a bit late to the game with this one, but like I said I wasn't a fan of fake tan. I've tried many in the past normally resulting in a streaky, smelly, way to dark for my skin tone mess (not to mention the suffering of my poor sensitive skin). Now though I can join the rest of you (the one's that don't look like Umpa Lumpa's anyway) in looking sunkissed and bronzed!
"In just 1 hour this revolutionary, speedy self tan develops into a rich cocoa brown colour.
Expertly formulated to be long-lasting and fade evenly.
Accelerating ingredients means the tan only needs to be left on the skin for 1 hour and can be rinsed off after that.
If you prefer a deeper tan you can leave the mousse on your skin for up to three hours and then rinse.
You will find this tan easy to apply, fast drying and non-sticky.
We recommend that you apply with a tanning mitt."
Before/Applying/Just After Rinsing (this picture does not do it justice!)
I applied the tan with the CB tanning mitt, and it was so simple. I could see where the tan was which meant no streaks (Hurray!). It also dried so quickly that by the time I had put the cap back on the tan I could sit down without worrying about turning my sofa brown. Being my pale self I thought an hour was definitely enough time so I rinsed and wow I already saw a pretty sun-kissed look. I was delighted, never before had a tan looked so natural on me. I then went to bed and by the next morning I noticed that it had developed more, but only to a more subtle bronzed look nothing overpowering. I really cannot rave about this product enough!
...I can't wait for the summer no more pastey Irish girl!

Have you tried Cocoa Brown?

300 Follower Giveaway! Blog Header Designed By Me!

Hey Everyone,
So I recently hit 300 followers and I was so happy and grateful I wanted to give something back. However money is tight at the moment and I can't afford to do the type of giveaway I would like, so until I can I have come up with an alternative!
Firstly I just want to say I know that not everyone who reads and follows my blog is a blogger themselves so as soon as I have some money saved up I will do another giveaway makeup (or otherwise based) for you all as well...
but this giveaway is for one blog header designed by me for one of you!

Obviously when the winner is contacted we can have a chat and I will then create one according to the style of your blog! I've chosen to use Rafflecopter again because its easy to follow the instructions it also randomly selects a winner for me so its all fair!
To see my previous design work click HERE (towards the bottom of the page is my blogger work), check out my work so that you can decide whether I'd suit the style of your blog.

Lastly thank you so much to everyone that has read and followed 'Love Life and Makeup' I appreciate you all so much and it means more than you will know that so many of you read, comment, and chat to me! So if you would like to enter follow the instructions on the Raffelcopter and Good Luck!

Aloe Vera Gel to Improve Skin and Acne

Hey Everyone,
some of you might already be aware if you've been following me on twitter for awhile that I am obsessed with skin care and this is one of my latest finds!
I have combination skin, which is manageable if I stick to a routine, if not it can go to pot within a day! What bothers me the most is when I do suffer with a spot or breakout the actual spot maybe only be around for a few days but I'm left with redness and what looks like scaring for months and months (if not years in some cases )!
I had some redness and scaring on my cheeks for at least a year until a couple of weeks ago... I was doing some research and discovered that some people believe that pure Aloe Vera gel can help the skin to heal, therefore helping to minimize blemishes (don't believe me just Google it!). I thought I would give it a go, I purchased Fruit of the Earths 100% Aloe Vera gel for around €7 (A lot cheaper than some other skin care/blemish healing products I had been looking at) from McCabes pharmacy!
I read that there was two ways in which to apply it, one as a mask before rinsing off or second as a cream rubbing it into the skin. I applied it the second way and within two days of applying it morning and night any spots I had dramatically decreased in size or dyed up! Then to my even greater surprise after about a week I noticed redness and blemishes from previous breakouts was less noticeable!
I was so surprised, I definitely thought of this as a gimmick that I'd test to see what happens but I'm happy I have. I will keep using this for as long as it works. I only wish I had taken before and after pictures to show you!

Have you ever tried Aloe Vera for anything other than sunburn?

Hey Everyone,

Dove Difference Event at The Merrion Hotel

Hey Everyone,
on Tuesday I was lucky enough to be invited to the Dove Difference Event in The Merrion Hotel. I would firstly like to thank Sarah and everyone at Thinkhouse for inviting me, it was an amazing event and a lovely evening!
The event was to showcase the newest and best products across hair, skin care, deodorants and cleansing that Dove has to offer. If you've been following me for a while you'll already know I'm a huge fan of the brand and use their deodorants and shower gels. As someone who has sensitive skin Dove is about the only thing that doesn't irritate my skin, so as you can imagine I was delighted to be invited.
When we first walked into the hotel we were greeted by friendly faces and each given a Dove passport this was our personal step by step to all the Dove products, a individual prescription if you like. The room was then set up in stations... Deodorant  Skin, Hair, and Treatments tables. You could walk around, talk to the experts and find out what products would suit you! I thought this was such a great idea because we were all individuals rather than a group.
Another part of the event I thought was a lovely touch was there was also a chance to get your hair styled as well as nails (with Butter London polishes) and hand massage (with Doves new amazing hand cream). The girls that did my nails and our hand massages were so lovely, and it was nice to sit and have a chat!
I loved my nails, I think the colour was called Yummy Mummy (Butter London), which I would describe as a pink toned mocha.
Throughout the room their was poster boards of different ad campaigns throughout the years, I always admire Dove for their real women advertising!
When leaving we were treated to a goody bag (I'm not bragging I'm just thankful!) filled with our passport recommendations which I can't wait to try! Thank you once again to Sarah, Thinkhouse, and Dove for an amazing event. I will be reviewing some of the products of course but any requests please comment below!

What do you love about Dove? Any favourite products?

Weekend Away For Friends Wedding!

Hey Everyone,
I've not posted in a while mainly because I've been away for a long weekend (plus a few days) for a friends wedding! It was in England so I flew over and stayed in a Travelodge near the wedding venue.
I thought I'd share with you just a few photos of the day, and say a huge congratulations to two lovely people!
I forgot to take pictures of my makeup (I left in a rush, late as usual!) so here is a picture of when I got back to the hotel with my worn off makeup lol!

Hope your all well!

Procrastinating Beauty Blogger Tag

Hey Everyone,
I hadn't done a tag for a while and after I saw this one on the lovely Christine's blog (Little Red Bow) I thought I'd give it a go!

1. Name a beauty regime that you rarely do.
Body Moisturiser or lotion I find it too much of a hassle  a lot of the time i'm in a rush and this just takes too long. Standing around waiting for it to dry so it doesn't end up all over my clothes just isn't worth it to me!

2. Is washing your makeup brushes something you do regularly?
I mostly use my fingers when applying foundation but if I do use a brush I will wash that afterwards, if I don't have the time then that evening. Other brushes get a deep clean every week or second week.
3. How long will you last with chipped nail polish?
This probably could of been another answer for number 1! I used to love doing my nails but these days I rarely do them unless I'm going out. I tend to opt for just neat filing! However if I do my nails I'm a definite picker as soon as the polish starts to chip that's it (I know this is terrible for your nails its just a bad habit!)

4. How long do you put off buying/replacing a beauty or nail polish product even if you need it? (i.e purchasing a new topcoat, or a new foundation etc.)
It really depends on the product if it was a foundation or concealer something I use most days I would definitely repurchase straight away. If it was a blush, I have more I could use in the mean time and then repurchase when I can. Then something like a nail polish I could go without completely!

5. What is your worst beauty habit?
100% not using a heat defense on my hair, my hair is a complete mess if I do nothing too it which means I use heat on it all the time and if I'm honest rarely use any heat defense products! Soorrryyy!
6. Name something non-beauty related that you put off doing all the time?
hmmm this is a hard one! I can't really think of anything I'm more of a go do it now get it out of the way type of person!

7. When going out somewhere, do you leave getting ready until the last minute or not?

No, I couldn't do that I stress a lot! If I left getting ready to the last minute I'd be a panicking mess!

8. Can you commit to spending bans?

I'm not on one at the moment but it would depend on what the spending ban was for... like what I was saving for!

9. How organised is your makeup and nail polish collection?

Very organized! I have a set of Ikea draws for my makeup and nail polishes! and then on my bedside table I have acrylic muji draws which holds my everyday makeup!
10. What is the longest amount of time you have gone without writing a blog post?
Last summer I had to take a needed break for personal reasons, for a couple of months. But I think every now and again a break is a good opportunity to recollect your thoughts and gain some inspiration, perhaps for not as long as I took last summer.

I tag: Everyone!
